Description:
On a seemingly ordinary day in 1949, journalist Gabriel García Márquez is tasked with investigating the emptying of the crypts of an old convent to make way for the construction of a luxury hotel.
He is surprised by the primitive and rudimentary way in which the task is carried out, where the mortal remains of illustrious figures are unearthed, carefully separating bones and valuable objects. Among the deceased were prominent figures such as a viceroy, a bishop, abbesses, among others.
However, the most shocking thing is the discovery of a crypt where a girl named Sierva María de Todos los Ángeles rests, whose reddish hair measures an astonishing twenty-two meters. This discovery awakens in the narrator the suspicion that this girl could be the protagonist of a local legend about a miraculous little marquise who died at an early age from rabies due to a dog bite. This revelation marks the beginning of the story told in the book.
By immersing yourself in the reading of this novel you will be able to embark on a fascinating journey through a story shrouded in mystery and passion. In this work, García Márquez transports you to colonial America in the 18th century, where you will meet Sierva María, a young noblewoman trapped in a world of prejudices, superstitions and forbidden love. Throughout its pages, you will immerse yourself in a captivating story that will challenge your beliefs about faith, love and death, inviting you to reflect on the complexity of human relationships and the limits of power.
