Biography

He is the son of a Jamaican psychologist and an English mathematician. He was born in England but was raised in Ontario, Canada from the age of six. He earned his BA in History from the University of Toronto in 1984.

After being rejected by several advertising agencies, he finally began journalism at an Indiana magazine, The American Spectator. He later worked at The Washington Post, where he worked for almost ten years, initially in the science section and later as chief of the New York business bureau.

At that time he began to be interested in academic research in both sociology and psychology with the intention of finding ideas for his reports, which would serve as sustenance and support for his task, as well as to provoke debate and the confrontation of ingenious theories. He is a true critic and cultural agitator.

In 1996 he began working at The New Yorker magazine.
